The Importance of Freestyle Writing

* Gain attention: Play a little of "The Riddle"

* Inform students of objectives:
to learn what FSW is, and how it differs from "formal writing"

* Stimulate recall of prior learning: 
Did you do some FSW with Dr. Smith? 
Do some of you write just for fun?

* Elicit performance (practice):
 Play the song and ask kids to write freely for a few minutes

* Provide feedback:
Read their writings aloud to the class

* Assess performance:
What do you think about FSW?



Assignment for tomorrow:
Write FSW for 20 minutes, and post it on your writing blog tonight. I will look for it tomorrow morning.
